China is one of the largest tomato producers in the world, but there is a large gap between China and foreign countries as for the tomato products aspect. The gap was mainly presented in the following aspects: less varieties, poor quality, backward planting technologies, low machinery application level and single product variety. What's more, China's tomato products generally belong to preliminary processing and become raw materials of overseas developed countries, and the export price is on the low side. With the development of domestic tomato processing industry and the learning from foreign developed countries, the domestic tomato industry will vigorously develop the research and application of new tomato varieties, promote seedlings cultivating and transplanting technologies, promote mechanization level and develop environmental friendly and pollution-free production technologies, so as to narrow the gap between China and the developed countries continuously. In recent years, with the rapid development of domestic tomato processing industry, China has become the world's leading tomato industry base gradually. China's tomato sauce imports reached 1.025 million tons and 1.12 million tons in 2010 and 2011 respectively. In 2012, China's tomato cultivated area was 850,000 mu, reduced by 52% compared with 1.76 million mu in 2011; calculate at 6 tons / mu, the output was 5.1 million tons; and calculate at the normal level of 5.5 tons / mu, the output was 4.67 million tons, which can produce 600,000 tons of tomato sauce, plus the inventory of 650,000 tons, there are 1.25 million tons of tomato sauce by the new production season of 2013.
