Solenoid valves are used to control the flow rate of any devices. Steam solenoid valves, as attested by its name, works in accordance with steam or heat. It has varied applications in presses, plastic molding, boilers, and textile industries. There are two types of steam valves, namely miniature and threaded port (also called floating piston or servo or pressure assisted). These seals are fitted with PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) or temperature-resistant material. Steam valves are available in different materials such as stainless steel, cast iron, bronze, and brass. Bronze or brass valves have applications in molding & autoclave systems, steam boiler outlets, steam presses, sterilizing systems, coffee vending machines, and commercial steam washing machines. Stainless steel valves have a major use in the food industry. Steam solenoid valves act differently according to their methods. Direct operated, indirect operated, semi-direct operated, and 3/2 way operated. Direct operated steam valves control electricity flowing through the vale via a plunger. The plunger is made of a ferromagnetic material and creates an electromagnetic field when electricity passes through it. These valves require no pressure and used for small flow rates. Indirect valves depend on the differential pressure of steam to open or close the valves. The inside and outside of the valve are separated by a rubber membrane called a diaphragm. The area above the membrane is connected to a small pressure port. This connection is blocked by the steam solenoid. It opens when the solenoid is charged and the orifice opens up due to the pressure from both sides. These valves are used in applications which required electricity to flow in one direction. They find their use in showers, car wash systems, and irrigation systems.
