Chinese Home Appliance Industry and Market, June 2015

This research report presents recent monthly review of shipment volume and sales value of four major Chinese home appliance categories: washing machine, refrigerator, air conditioner, and LCD TV; also included are sales volume share of China's top-10 home appliance vendors in each category; home appliance sales volume ranking with breakdowns by model, volume share, and average selling price. The content of this report is based on secondary data obtained from National Bureau of Statistics of China, State Information Center of China and public information made available by international and Chinese home appliance brands. According to statistics on July 20, Chinese home appliances market volume topped around 769.7 billion RMB (US$123.9 billion) in the first half of 2015, up 4.3% compared to the same period of last year. Amid the lukewarm market demand in the first half, sales of washing machines still managed to grow almost 7% year-on-year, excelling that of LCD TVs, refrigerators and air conditioners. Looking closely at washing machines, almost 60% of those sold in China were automatic tumbling-box washing machines. Two key highlights observed by MICare that the rise of e-commerce has set off a boom in the washing machine market and that there are an increasing number of washing machines being smartened up in 2015.
